The short version

MindMargin runs entirely on your computer. It does not send your chats, your progress, or anything else to us or anyone else. There are no accounts and no tracking.

What MindMargin reads

On chatgpt.com, claude.ai, and gemini.google.com only, MindMargin watches whether the AI is currently writing and reads the text of the AI's latest answer. It checks that text against a built-in word list to find vocabulary worth practicing. This happens in your browser.

What MindMargin stores

In your browser's extension storage on this computer: your settings, XP, level, streak, your Daily Five progress, and up to 20 "Think First" notes you write.

In the extension's own database on this computer (IndexedDB): your decks and flashcards, including any you import, the words you've collected, a history of your answers (which card, right or wrong, when, and in which mode) used to schedule reviews, and single sentences from AI answers that contain a word you're learning (so a card can show the word in context).

You can export any deck as a CSV file and delete decks from the study page, export or reset your progress from the Settings page, and uninstalling the extension removes all of it.

What MindMargin sends

Nothing. The extension makes no network requests.

This website

This site has no cookies, no analytics, and loads nothing from other companies. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) to run and protect the site.

Children

MindMargin is for people 13 and older. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes

If a future version ever needs to send data anywhere, this policy will be updated first, and the change will be opt-in.
